nDisplay: Nodes not showing anything (black screen) [urgent question]

Hi!
Not sure if this is the right location. But it’s a little bit urgent. I asked in the answer hub, but didn’t get an answer
so far. I deployed the sample nDisplay project on 2 machines and started the listener on both.
Then I clicken “RUN”. On both machines there stats a fullscreen process but only shows a black screen.

Im reliant on you, because I need to get this work today and have no Idea how todo…

Check log files on slave pc. Also try running the game standalone on both pcs.

What problem are you experiencing? At first glance it looks like your list of scene nodes doesn’t match the cluster node, scene, and viewpoint settings. In my experience so far, everything needs to match specifically or else it doesn’t work. For your list of scene nodes, maybe try something like this so don’t you have extra unassigned nodes:

This is just an initial guess. More information is helpful in diagnosing the issue.

Is either your config file or your application in a path with spaces? If so move either of these files to an other path. Second time I had the Issue was bacause my camera position was equal to the position of my screen frustrum.
If by chance anyone stumbles upon this I also have an Issue with the buttons. Was anyone capable to configure the Buttons?

Hey, maybe this is too late for you, but I also may have had the same problem and it turned out to be a simple firewall issue.
For anyone that experiences this issue: Try to open the firewall ports defined in your config file (default is I think 41000 - 41003).

It always helps to look at the log files of both machines (especially the master node), located in "…yourPackagedGame/Saved/Logs

Hey, just been playing with this this week, got same problem as OnkelEdeltraut:

  • Launching gets a black window on head node and render node
  • Render node shuts immediately
  • Head node holds for a minute then closes

I’ve created rules in the firewall for the neccessary ports :\

Screen config is all wrong but I can work on that.

I am having the exact same issue I have opened the ports to 41000 to 410003 but still getting instant shutdown, any other ideas?

I was getting a black screen using the nDisplay template project and the sample config file “cave_5_sides_unwrap.cfg”
I replaced all instances of the IP address “127.0.0.1” in the config file with my machine’s actual IP address (obtained by typing ipconfig at a command prompt) and now I no longer get the black screen when running the nDisplay project.

Hi! Has any of you been able to fix their issue? I’m experiencing similar problems. I got two cluster nodes with two projectors each and I want to launch the application from an external PC. Everything seems ok to me in the config file, but the nDisplay windows seem to open (black) and close instantly. The nDisplay Listeners look like they are getting all they need and start the project but it instantly closes.
I looked at the log files but the error I get doesn’t ring a bell. Since I got two nodes per computer, I get 4 log files in total. One of them seems to say there is a communication error, and the other says no viewports created. I’ve been looking at this for 2 days without any luck.
Firewall ports inbound rules have been applied. Same user with admin rights on all computers. Fixed IP’s.
Does anyone know how I can fix the issues that are logged in the attached files? I’m also attaching my config files.

I had the same errors when running my setup on 2 PC’s and what fixed it was that for every computer that I had, I added another monitor to it (not using it for nDisplay) and marked that additional monitor as primary in windows.

Hi folks, I’ve been testing out some nDisplay things with the template project, and after looking at many of these threads talking about errors and crashes because of my own Fatal Error crash I deduced that my crash on a node had to do with whether or not I was defining windows that will take over your entire desktop on a given node. Per Kerber996’s solution i thought that that really isn’t a feasible solution for a production setup but it made me think about the “fullscreen” config attribute for windows. If I set this to true on the node window config I was able to get things running. So it seems if you know your window will take up the only screen on a given node, you must also define fullscreen = “true” for that window. I’m sure there are other issues afflicting people, but thought I should offer that advice since its still tough to find really thorough troubleshooting documentation! Ideally nDisplay will eventually should a better job at vetting the config for these sorts of conflicts or handle them more gracefully so we know what is going on. Thanks for all the great work on the features!

I tried the firewall or full-screen , no luck. The thing that really frustrates me is that I can’t find any log files on my master and other pc. I know its supposed to be in the save folder under your packaged game, but I am not finding that folder. Can someone please tell me where to find the log files?

I am working on an nDisplay config with 11 projectors and 2 PCs. When I start all 11 nodes, 3 of the nodes (all belonging to master PC) result in the following error inconsistenly:

@xiaohangshao Just try packaging your project again, logs related to master nodes will be generated on master PC and that of slave on slave PC under Packaged_Project\WindowsNoEditor\Project_Name\Saved\Logs
