My smoke & explosion particles turn strangely red during my night cycle

Hey UE5 / UnrealEngine devs! Getting a weird red tint on smoke/explosion VFX, but only at night when lights are dim/blueish. Checked fog color, material emissive, PP shadow tint… still stumped! Any ideas what else could cause this? :thinking: Pics attached.



My guess is that there is a bit of red glow in your VFXs.

You just don’t see it during the day because of camera exposure adaptation. In other words your sun is so bright your camera reduces its exposure and the dim red light is no longer visible.

You should Investigate the VFX you are using.

P.S. It looks too cool to be unintentional :wink:

Hi there! To follow up on the great advice from @dZh0, you can add an EyeAdaptationInverse node to the emissive output of your VFX material graphs. I use this for just about all of my VFXs to guarantee consistency in different lighting conditions.
