I would find useful if the Edit Mesh Section would support setting also other input parameters (Float, Color, … )
The use-case for this is the scenario when user plug-in Table to the Mesh Section as a Material input and still would like to alter dynamically some parameters of the incoming material(s) instances from the table. Currently only texture is supported.
Thinking about your use case, I’m not sure how adding these input parameters would help you as they are usually handled on the mesh section themselves. The primary use case for edit mesh section (though maybe the name of this node is the issue) is to modify/combine/mask textures that you for use in materials. This could include adding dynamic masking or textures that you could further modify with parameterization.
Are you indicating that you would like to modify textures colors or details, before passing them into the material of the mesh selection, like a substance graph?
Well, the important part in my post the usage of the Table as an input. In that case you have no access to the material setup, but the Edit Mesh Section node.
If user setup Mutable as on the image, the Scatter parameter is ignored.
Understood. Apologies, there was a bit of confusion because Edit Mesh Section is a modifier node with a specific function that is separate from the Mesh Section node.
We do support this, and in my testing, it does work in 5.6.1. You might need to share an example of your setup or maybe some more screenshots of your data structures. Specifically:
