The Multiplayer TopDown Kit is a fully networked ‘click to move’ action game type example.
It is perfect for getting a quick start when prototyping TopDown or Isometric single player and multiplayer projects.

The example content provides a solid and clean foundation to prototype an action RPG game upon it, or any type of game with similar mechanics.
With some adjustments the Multiplayer TopDown Kit it can also be used as a base for any MOBA/RTS style prototyping.

Other Info:
If you are creating a new map and your player does not move it’s because the pathfinding used for click to move is not setup.

  • Add a Nav mesh volume and make sure to build navigation paths in the editor whenever it is altered.
  • Set your floor mesh/terrain to the “Floor“ collision pre-set.

Looks good. But what is Light Radius Based Fog of War? I understood Fog of War to be something else…

For clarification, the fog of war is the uncertainty in situational awareness experienced by participants in military operations.
In video games Fog of war refers to enemy units, and often terrain, being hidden from the player; this is lifted once the area is explored, but the information is often fully or partially re-hidden whenever the player does not have sight of the area.

In the kit the light radius based fog of war shows enemies and reveals an area when lit. If there is no light in the area the enemies fade out and are hidden.
If you mouse over the area and try to select units in that area you will not be able to see or target the enemy units.

In the example the player, torches and fireballs have a light radius that cuts through the darkness. You can see in the video the enemies fading in and out and the player not being able to target them when in the darkness.

I have tested with 6 unique players, but this question sounds more like “how many players will my game made this with support” and that depends entirely on any current engine limitations, how you design your project and your server setup/bandwidth.

I am really hoping to hear back this week. I’ll post an update as soon as I get a date. I have been considering Gumroad/Sellfy for the RPG Inventory/MP TopDown Kit and
I think it will definitely be something we do with future releases.

for the fog of war, if you don’t plan on using it at all, I would recommend simply removing that from the project completely.
It will be very simple to remove the Light Radius/Actor Fade behavior from the project.
