Movie Render Queue doesn't render shadows of animated objects

I have a weird problem with MRQ and shadows.

There are animated people and cars in this scene. The shadows are clearly visible in Editor but for some reason Movie Render Queue doesn’t render shadows for any of the animated objects.

  • The shadows are visible for even smaller/further objects so culling shouldn’t be an issue.
  • I’m using Ultra Dynamic Sky but happens also with Directional Light.
  • Turned on and off Ray Traced Shadows, High quality shadows, did not help.
  • r.raytracing.culling and r.shadow.distancescale both set to 0, did not help.

The animated people are from AXYZ Anima plugin, but I guess that’s irrelevant because same thing happens with the cars.

The thing is, all animated objects are runtime only, so they’re not playing when seqeuncer is played. Only movement happens in rendertime. Might have something to do with it.

Any ideas what might cause this?

Did you ever get a solution for this?

Try to increase Skin Cache Size in Editor Settings.

This worked for me!

I was having a similar issue where a crowd simulation generated with Golaem was rendering all shadows in the editor but only some of the shadows in MRQ, just doubled the Skin Cache Size and it sorted it right out. Thank you!!
