Good day,
I have the following problem with my mouse (Razer naga 2014) during Landscaping and Painting, and working with Foliage too:
When I am selecting any brush, choosing any settings and starting to edit Landscape the sensitivity of mouse rises up to maximum values in the Viewport window. It becomes impossible to draw by HOLDING Left mouse button. When I just clicking and making “point-type” changes - everything works fine.
What I already tried: I updated my mouse software, restarted the computer, changed DPI to the 500, tried it with 1800, 4000, 8200 - result is the same.
I also tried another mouse - some Logitech, which work fine without any drivers, but the same problem appears.
I am using: iMac Late 2015 (27-inch), AMD Radeon R9 M380 2Gb, 8Gb RAM.
Will be thankful for any suggestions and help.
P.S. Previously I was working on engine version 4.7 on Win PC - with the same mouse, and everything was fine.
Hello
No, I am not using it. But if I will turn ON Showing FPS it seems that they are limited up to ˜32 FPS, and they can drop at some point up to 15. But, during Preview playing everything is fine.
Could you please tell where to find this limit setting? Maybe it used by default
I have a similar problem when working with the Landscape Tool
When hovering over the landscape the mouse moves as expected.
However: when I start to paint the speed increases drasticly and the mouse becomes uncontrollable.
I noted that if I change the the “camera speed” setting to any other value then the current value:
The mouse is working properly at the first stroke of paint, but after that the mouse is back to the uncontrollable state again.
Hello, Mattias, have you been able to find a solution to the mouse problem when painting with unreal engine 5? I’m also having hte same problem. It’s a bit frustrating.
I’m having this issue as well. When I start painting on the landscape the mouse sensitivity jumps up and it becomes less responsive even on 10% preview scaling and a small landscape.
Still an issue in UE 5.2, Mac M1. Looks like issue is in EditorViewportClient.cpp, but can’t check it (can’t recompile engine).
Changing settings “camera speed” reset variable’s value for first time, but in next time it do something like speedCam = speedCam*speedScale (pseudocode).
I’m having the same issue here in a Mac M1 Ventura. It’s nearly impossible to edit the landscapes with this sensitivity change. I got it with both UE 5.1 and 5.2.
M1-Max here. Same issue in 2023 with 5.3… I was switching from unity to ue5. But this is really really disappointing. And if i cant find any solution, ill just go back to good old unity i guess…
same problem here, M1-Max, even in the newest Unreal version (5.3.2)… I’ve only just started learning but this is making the software virtually unusable for me, it took me ages to find this blogpost as well
if anyone has found fixes yet it’d be much appreciated
Have the same issue when using a bluetooth mouse with a m1 macbook pro. However, found an ok workaround by using a cheap touch screen stylus directly on the trackpad (which for me doesn’t have the sensitivity issue).
MacBook M3 Max:
Issue in latest version still occurs, but only if I’m using external mouse. When I’m using touchpad, it’s working as expected. But it is very hard to be precise using touchpad…
Please anyone who has this issue, start reporting this issue to Epic Games: Unreal Engine Community
I wish they finally fix this problem.
