Hello community,
I am using Reality Capture for 3D data acquisition for a specific site and for that I have used 4 ground control points (for georreferencing the model, which are set correct by confirming with the map view) and 4 tie points (just to assure a better image alignment). The coordinates of the GPC were given by a topographical survey and are on the correct coordinate system - epsg:3763 - ETRS89 / Portugal TM06
I have set all image inputs for “Use Camera Priors for georreferencing” to “No” + have used “Define Distance” between two pairs of points - Tie Point 1 to 2 - Calculated Distance = 7.22 and Defined Distance = 111.41 ; Tie Point 3 to 4 - Calculated Distance = 3.94 and Defined Distance = 60.51.
Whenever I try to align images for these input real measurements RC always flips the model in Z direction and deletes many points from the scene.
I have also tried to erase all tie points and defined distances between GPCs and the result is the same.
Any suggestions would be welcome
Hello @inesagsoares
As you are using GCPs, are those placed over all needed images? Do you see some error in position for those GCPs after placing? Before setting the distance, are the GCPs used for the georeferencing of your project?
Regarding your defined distances, what is the proper distance there? As you have quite big differences between defined and calculated distances.
Can you show some print screens of 1Ds view with GCPs and 3D view?
Hi,
The GCPs are placed over all needed images and there is no error in positioning after placing (just small diferences in pixels)
The GCPs are used for georeferencing of the project and they are correctly positioned on the map view
The distance is set between each pair of points, I will attach some images
Is this also happening after application’s reset?
Also, some images will help to understand your situation better.
I haven’t tried to reset or reinstall the application
The model was produced using Google Earth’s video screenshots and the coordinates of the points were given by a topographic survey. I can’t upload all images, but the first 5 are taken before performing Alignment → Registration → Update
You used just Update. Instead of that use new alignment.
Your actual GCP position is not good:
and that can influence the whole update process.
the same thing happens if I align the images
regarding the GCP, I could not change its value before the alignment; but afterwards it has updated
Point 6 has the biggest error after alignment.

Can you check if the coordinates are proper there or don’t use it as GCP?
