When I am trying to retarget Mixamo animations to the Character Device skeleton using the Automatic Retargeter (Right click on Animation → Retarget Animation) the retargeted animation doesn’t work correctly. It appears as it only retargets head movement but not body movements. This was working well before but today is not working.

Steps to Reproduce
Download an import a mixamo .fbx to UEFN. Make sure you import it with skeletal mesh and animation
Right click on the animation, go to Retarget Animations
Select as Source Skeletal Mesh the one from Mixamo, and for Target Skeletal Mesh select “M Medium Base” which is the skeleton the Character Device uses
Select the animation to retarget below, then press “Export Animations” and select where to save the retargeted animation
Create a Level Sequence, add a Character Device to the scene and then add the Character Device to the Level Sequence
Add an animation track to the Character Device and add the retargeted animation
Here you should see that the character’s head moves but NOT the body, which is the issue and its not something that happened before
Expected Result
We should see the Mixamo Animation working correctly with the Character Device
Observed Result
The only part animated is the head, the body remains still, like if the body had nothing retargeted, which is something that wasn’t happening before
I’m having the exact same problem and thought I was going crazy for a moment. I tested this on both my current project and a blank one. Strangely, Mixamo animations imported before today retarget fine—this issue only affects animations imported today
Same issue here. It’s been for a few days already, at least on my end. Thought I screwed up somewhere and just kept trying and trying, lol. At least I’m not the only one.
Hey. I have just tried to test it with retarget animation from another animation source, coming from Rokoko and its the same result. I only get head animation. Hope this get fixed soon
While this has been tricky to reproduce on my end, I found an issue that causes the same problem (only 1 or 2 bones are retargeted). So I believe I have found the problem.
The fix for it has been submitted and will be released in 33.30. Thanks for your patience.
