Thank you. I’ll try to fix the best I can.
So lumen doesn’t work properly with metahumans?
C. (Still missing) Baked lighting, baked reflections, or baked something, but baked compatibility with Lumen
Baked reflections still do a horrible job with mirrors. 5.3 is adding baked lighting + lumen reflections.
Baked lighting works with lumen in 5.3 preview, last I checked at least?
Yes and no. Lumen can’t really handle skinned characters at the moment. That’s because the only reason lumen runs as well as it does is that it caches lighting on surfaces in the scene, and you can’t really cache lighting on something that’s constantly deforming. You can get lumen to work properly, but it requires a bit more foresight/trickery.
Oh, I didnt know! So, maybe, it’s reflected quite accurate in reflections?
where do I find the “affect dynamic indirect lighting” option?
It should be in your foliage options menu, assuming you’re using foliage.
Scroll down until you see the checkbox.
Thank you. I found it, but it was already checked. Also lumen settings are at the top. The only thing should be to illuminate trees, but they are not in a single row so area light would illuminate only the first trees keeping all the others still in darkness. I hope there will be a solution in the future to have decent reflections without using planar reflections. They are improving lumen at every update, so I’m confident…
Hmm, what’s the path-tracer telling you? The PT’s results should tell you whether or not lumen is breaking, or if there’s a material issue of some kind.
This is really really weird. I tried to start path tracing following your suggestion and all looked ok, but the weird part is that coming back tu lumen visualization all the problems were fixed… I also attach a surface cache screen that looks completely different. we’ll call it the path tracing miracle
Now I only need to fix the hdri backdrop that with 5.3 is gone… (why?)
…I have no idea what just happened or how any of this is working, but I am very happy that it is. Best of luck with the HDRI!
