There are MANY methods that the engine uses to achieve reflections, and you need to choose the one most appropriate for your use case.
I tried Planar Reflection but It also doesn’t work, I’m using lumen so any chance that is the reason it isn’t working ?
I don’t know for sure, but I don’t think Lumen is playing nice with all the reflection tech yet…
I see, Maybe I should switch back to screen space
I can’t find the doc right, but there’s like at least 5 ways of doing reflection, with all their various pros and cons… Screen space is probably the most crap… ( but it really depends on the application ).
I tried others as well but It seems like when it comes to reflection it doesn’t work as well as UE4
This is basically the expected result with Lumen right now as it still treats masked meshes as opaque, and it’s trying to reflect a tree so it is just a black blob.
You can get higher quality reflections by letting Lumen use hardware raytracing when available, but you’ll still have black foliage.
the tree was made that way but I removed the Opaque part from it, so It’s all Leaf textured squares would that still make problems ?
I’m not sure what you’re asking here, if you mean if you cut out all the masked areas so that it was just opaque then yes that will help, but only if you enable hardware raytracing.
With software raytracing you’re stuck with whatever blobby mess the global distance field spits out, and there’s really not much you can do to fix that other than maybe maxing out the detail trace distance. That will help a little but not much.
Then I guess I won’t try to get objects with that much need for reflections until I get a Rtx card, Btw would It work If i switch to old method of Rendering ? Screen Space Is the name I guess
It’ll look different, not necessarily better…
I see, Seems like waiting is the only option I have
