This same error happened again today. It’s been happening every day for a while.
I see again that it says “source control is disabled”. I know for sure that I did not manually disable source control today, and I didn’t notice it disable itself non-manually either. Also I didn’t copy and paste anything in the project today using Ctrl C, so that’s not the issue. I think I did change and move some files in the Content Browser.
Hi! I have source control enabled on my project and I haven’t turned it off, except when I get errors and delete the .skein file and reconnect. Frequently, when I try to Check-in Changes, I get an error saying that I can’t check in changes. One common error is “Operation ‘copy’ not supported by source control provider ‘Skein’”. This appears to happen after I make copies of assets in the Content Browser. Maybe I used Ctrl C and Ctrl V instead of Ctrl D? Could that be the problem? I copied the files within UEFN, in the Content Browser, not in my PC’s file explorer.
Also I’m getting an error that certain files do not exist. “uasset does not exist” and "Couldn’t find uasset.
I’m also noticing now that it says “Source control is disabled”. I can’t remember when the last time was that I disabled Source Control. I think I may have disabled it earlier today, because I was getting these same errors so I deleted the .skein file from my file explorer and reconnected to source control so that I could take a new snapshot. That’s what I do frequently, delete the skein file and take a new snapshot, because I get errors when I try to check in changes. Honestly I can’t remember if check in changes ever works for me, once I leave UEFN and come back. I can take a new snapshot and I might be able to check in changes to that new snapshot while I still have UEFN open, but I think once I leave UEFN and come back I can’t check in changes again. I’ll have to take closer notes in the future so I can confirm that.
I’m attaching my skein logs. I wasn’t sure which you need so I included everything in the logs folder. BlueClairy_SkeinLogsDec7.zip (2.6 MB)
Thanks for your help Today I got basically the same errors again. I noticed that the file path mentioned in the error messages involves OneDrive - is that a problem? “C:/users/color/OneDrive/Documents/FortniteProjects…” etc. A while ago when I was collaborating with a friend on Github something went wrong where OneDrive was somehow a part of the problem. But I don’t remember why or how OneDrive was involved in that Github problem. Should I save my FN projects in a different file location on my PC instead of OneDrive?
Oh no! I deleted the .skein file again because I wanted to take a new snapshot, since I can’t check in changes. But now I can’t take a new snapshot. Maybe because I disconnected Source Control before I exited UEFN, and deleted the skein file? I couldn’t remember if I was supposed to disconnect from source control when I delete the skein file, or if I’m supposed to stay connected. Now I’m getting the message “Connection Error: The Skein project could not be created. BadRequest - another project with this ID already exists”. What do you think I should do, @Nysuatro_1 ?
I think by deleting the skein folder every time and enabling skein again, it might have potentially created a duplicate of your project.
I wonder if you temp delete the skein project. Does your project appear in the project browser ? And it allows you to download it to disk ?
You could then copy all of the asset from the previous project and replace it with the fresh download. It would detect these changes so you could submit a new snapshot from there.
I can try! So you mean, go into the project in file explorer and delete the skein file. Then in the project browser, download my project. Delete all the assets from the previous project, the one that I have been working with up til now? And then move all of the files from the new one that I downloaded into the old one, which is now empty?
At any point in this process, should I manually disconnect from source control? Or should I stay connected?
