Metahuman Animator in 5.5 and 5.6 - Padding animation

Hey guys

We are using metahuman animator to generate facial animation from audio.

We are running some python scripts that call the metahuman animator functions.

It works flawless.

One thing we are missing is padding in our animations.

I know that we could add silence in front and at the end of our audio files but it might not be feasible - project constraints.

Does metahuman animator in 5.5 or 5.6 support some padding?

Sometimes animation made from short audio file starts on already open mouth and its not ideal if you know what i mean.

Or it would end on a pose thats somewhat far from neutral.

Let us know what sort of suggestion do you have

J.

Hi Jan,

MetaHuman Animator does not currently provide a way to pad the input audio, processing it as-is. I can share this feedback with the engineering team for us to consider in future releases.

Where the audio starts or ends with an open mouth, it suggests that audio has already been detected. How would you want to handle the animation in this case? While (silent?) padding could be used to transition from neutral to the starting expression, the audio would still have an abrupt start at frame 1. Or did you have something else in mind?

Thanks,

Mark.
