it seems there is a problem with the auto exposure in the static mesh editor when in ortho view.
Steps to Reproduce
- Open a mesh in the static mesh editor.
- Switch the viewport for Orthographic Right Views
- Wait a couple of seconds before the mesh turns to white.

I created a bug report for this issue that can be tracked here if/when it’s approved for public visibility: Unreal Engine Issues and Bug Tracker (UE\-297106\). There is no ETA as priorities for bugs and features can shift at any time.
It looks like this doesn’t happen when the quality preset for the project is set to scalable, you can change the project settings to scalable for now as a workaround by going to Edit > Project Settings > Target Hardware > Optimize project settings for: > set Maximum to Scalable
