Summary
UEFN total memory value is inflated / calculated incorrectly (breakdown sums low but top total shows much higher) after Update

What Type of Bug are you experiencing?
Memory
Steps to Reproduce
Open UEFN (latest build).
Open an existing island that previously reported ~40k memory.
Observe the Memory panel: Breakdown CSV shows ~40k but the top total shows 110k–150k.
Expected Result
The Memory panel total should match the sum of the Memory Breakdown (TopResources) and reflect the actual assets present in the island.
Observed Result
Top total memory is significantly higher (110k–150k) than the breakdown (≈40k).

Additional Notes
MemoryTestResults CSVs show breakdown ~40k but the toolbar total shows ~113k–145k.
Likely related to recent UEFN update.

Hi there,
The report displays the memory costs for up to 100 of the top assets/resources, and the breakdown shows the costs of these top assets/resources by type. So it won’t include the costs of all the other assets like the headline value does.
I hope this helps!
Hi, @nick.edwards.epic
I just want to add an important detail: right before the recent update, my island’s memory calculation was around 40–45k, and after the update the memory has been increasing every single day without me adding anything new to the project.
Now the headline memory shows 145k, even though the map only contains:
Landscape, Static meshes, Textures, No Fortnite devices at all
So the issue is not about the top-100 breakdown — the problem is that the overall memory keeps increasing exponentially after the update, even with zero changes made.
This is why I believe the memory calculation itself might be incorrect after the update.
@nick.edwards.epic @Flak We can’t publish the map due to the insane memory jump after the recent 38.00 Fortnite update, and nothing has been added to the project. This issue is fully blocking our release.
If you need any files or extra details from me, please let me know — I’ll provide whatever is required.
@Jimbohalo10 Thanks for the post, but we don’t have an item grantor in the project or much Fortnite devices. The Increase in memory happened after the update only.
Hi @IDK_Creates,
Do you have an island code that you can share?
Thanks
Hello @nick.edwards.epic
The Map is not published yet, but if you need the Project ID, here it is: 771a2ead-41e2-eea7-bc50-eaa4e40b03eb
@Flak @nick.edwards.epic @Bug-Reporter
Team, can we get an estimate on when this might be resolved? We were planning to publish the map today, and this issue is completely blocking us.
For context, this started happening right after the Fortnite v38.00 update. I was actively working on the map during the update and immediately after it finished. The memory only began piling up after that point, and several community members mentioned that this can cause the memory calculation system to break. Sharing this in case it helps.
Please let me know if you need any files or details from my side to speed up the process.
Thank you.
Hi @IDK_Creates,
I have looked at your project, and from what I can see, you are using over 100% of your budget on textures. 1115 of these textures are non-streaming, and as a result will need to be loaded in memory at all times.
I can’t see how your project could’ve previously been 40-45k without you adding anything new - you must’ve added new textures or updated their streaming settings for it to jump to this amount.
Please refer to this page for more info on what to do if your project is over budget - it includes some information on texture usage.
Thanks!
Thank you so much @nick.edwards.epic, I will look into it.
