Medium - VFX Creator - Custom Niagara VFX or custom Sprites do not show in game.

It appears that the feature for replacing the VFX Creator Device’s Niagara System with a custom one is broken. When I try to replace the Niagara System in the VFX Creator’s details panel with my own, the new system shows up in the editor but not Live Edit or gameplay.

If we can’t use custom Niagara VFX with the VFX Creator, could we at least have permission to use custom sprite shapes? For me, UEFN allows me to add my own sprite textures to the Details, but they don’t show up in the editor or in Live Edit. In the device settings in Live Edit, it shows my sprite setting as “Custom” but the actual sprites are just the default circle.

I understand I can use custom Niagara systems with the VFX Spawner, but I want the VFX Creator instead, because I want to attach my Niagara VFX to the player as trails.

any fixes yet? I also have this problem

Still having this problem.

still having this problem, VFX creator seems completely broken, no? VFX are visible in editor but sprites in game do not appear as their desired textures

edit : graphics settings were somehow changed to performance mode, changing them back fixed the issue

Still happening in UEFN 42.40 (CL-59247843), Windows PC, with built-in sprites (Smoke02 and Soft Circle), not only custom ones.

A VFX Creator Device shows correctly in the editor viewport, but never renders in game.

  • Tested standing about 1 ft from the device: not visible.
  • Tested with Verse Begin()/End() (logs confirm the calls fire) and with no Verse, running continuously from game start: not visible either way.
  • Tested in Performance Mode and in DirectX 12, with restarts: not visible.
  • Draw distance raised to 200 m. Gravity -250, continuous generation. Some settings were applied by editor Python and read back.

Has anyone found a fix or a cause? We’re moving to a custom Niagara system on a VFX Spawner Device (Custom Visual Effect, Override = True) as a workaround.
