Maya help, how to render normal maps in real-time within the view-port?

I’m running Maya 2016, and I want to be able to display my characters normal map in the view-port. When I baked my maps from a high res character, it created a new material and assigned the normal to it. But when I assign that material to my character, I do not see the normal maps. I tried switching to DirectX 11, as well as setting my Renderer to “Viewport 2.0” as well as “Legacy High Quality Viewport”, with little avail. In the hypershader window I do see my normal map on the default ‘Shader Ball’.

Any thoughts? Thanks.

Switch on textures its the one that looks like a chequer ball at the top of the viewport
