Materials not working on model made in 3ds max.

I made a simple model of the front of a house using the line tool and then extruding it. I then exported it to an obj and also an fbx and then imported it into unreal. When I placed it in the scene it seemed fine until I tried to apply a material to it. When I applied the material it became a mostly solid colour and was very shiny. Any ideas?

You need to apply UV mapping
