Material Editor causes crash on Linux

When I open material editor for any material it can even be a newly created one the material editor barely opens for half a second leaving just a black box in the middle of the screen and everything freezes. After a while my pc just automaticly reboots. This issue has lasted for many months now and at one point I just quit trying hoping that it would be fixed in a later patch but still in the latest version 5.5.4 downloaded from Unreal Engine Linux download page. I have tried 5.5.3 and even versions earlier than that. Also I have tried the aur unreal-engine-bin with the same result. I have tried compiling from source but it has always failed at [2898/4247] with error 6.

I am on Arch Linux, kernel version: 6.14.1-arch1-1 and using Wayland. I have also tried X11 with no difference. DE is KDE Plasma 6.3.4

GPU: AMD Radeon RX 7700XT
CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 5950X
RAM: 32GB

I’m having the same issue. Running current Arch (CachyOS) with KDE and Wayland here too.

I remember reading a few weeks ago that compiling the engine manually could potentially fix it, but honestly, I haven’t gotten around to trying that yet because the compilation process of UE on Linux is pretty tedious.

Hi,
In Unreal Engine 5.6 Preview, the problem has been fixed for me.
Cheers
