Marvelous Designer Free One-Year License For UE

Hi,

Since Epic announced the implementation of MetaHuman to UEFN during the State of Unreal presentation at GDC '24 and, in addition, coming up with a free one-year license of Marvelous Designer (MD) for UEFN developers, I’m wondering why UE developers aren’t included to also get access to this cool benefit.

Are there any plans to also provide UE developers with a free one-year license of MD in the future and if not, why?

So maybe I am reading between the lines a little bit here, but the press release specifically states it has been announced as part of the UE 5.4 pipeline that is now the current UEFN version. I don’t think anything stops you from signing up for said license and using it in UE 5.4 projects. I also think it mentioned that it will be a sign up process as well. So I think a one year license is a one year license.

UEFN creators are eligible for a free one-year license of Marvelous Designer to create dynamic clothing using the new UE5.4 workflow, which can then be imported into UEFN projects. Stay tuned by following @FNCreate to receive updates on when sign-up for license claims will commence, beginning in late April. Licenses can be claimed within the two-month period following the opening of sign-ups.

Quick update on some marvelous news! You’ll be able to claim your free one-year license of

@CLO_virtual

in June. Stay tuned for more details.

I’m hoping that I can still use it for Unreal Engine development myself. Marvellous Designer looks like it will be able to save me hundreds, if not more, hours of work on my indie/solo project. But the licensing cost is prohibitive at this stage of the project. ($40 a month) is just way too high right now.

Any updates from Marvelous Designer or Epic?

Nothing since the tweet. It’s still the beginning of June, though so there’s still hope.

Now we’re halfway through june. Also the the @FNCreate twitter feed is super hard to keep up with. The entire timeline goes back and forth rapidly between 2024 to 2019 to 2020 and so on. Please change that to order of release

Exactly. June usually means June 1st, not the end of June. So, what’s going on? I am very eager to give MD a shot, but it’s been months of waiting.

They are doing the worst marketing ever about this. Has anybody actually found out how to get this license? When i click on the link provided on that page they send me to what seems like a news page, from which i can’t figure out where to actually apply for the license request: Fortnite Creator Portal

I got a popup on the main UEFN portal page where you can click to apply for it, it said I’d get an email and instructions but nothing yet

Just went through the process.

Was not registered with UEFN before, only had my Epic Games account.
Registered with UEFN and finished the enrollment process (tax stuff etc.)

After that was completed and I setup my epic games hyperwallet, I got the popup on the UEFN portal that I could request a 1 year marvelous designer license key.

Should arrive in my inbox in the upcoming days.

If you need to be a UEFN creator to get the 1 year license of MD, it seems like there’s either a paywall or you need to prove you’re actually using UEFN as an Island Creator

If that’s the case it’s a big no for me. I really don’t understand why Epic and MD have established this strict partnership instead of simply allowing also UE 5 users to take advantage of this opportunity.

I really hope i misunderstood completely and there’s actually a less dodgy way to get this licence. If anybody figures out, please post it here in the thread, thanks

Not sure this is true.

It basically says that you need an account older than 30 days and you need to have spent 7 out of the last 30 days in unreal engine.

If you click on the check button, you can see that it automatically detects the days you spent in Unreal Engine. For me it said 27 out of the last 30.

I have never spent a single day in UEFN.

Edit for a simple tutorial:

Requirements: account older than 30 days and spent 7 out of the last 30 days in UEFN or Unreal Engine.

Go to the Unreal Fortnite Creator Portal here https://create.fortnite.com/

Enroll into the program following all the steps.
Make sure you use the same email that you are using for your Epic Games account!
You need to agree to a lot of things and also enter some tax-related information about yourself.
It’s actually pretty simple.

Once you have done that, EPIC will check if everything is legit and send you an email.
That email basically says: You can do the next step in the enrollment process - create your hyperwallet

Create your hyperwallet by following the enrollment process

Once that is done, UEFN enrollment process is finished and you are part of the uefn creators.

You then go here: New Talisman Demo Templates Now Available for UEFN
and click on the link at the bottom that says ‘apply for a unique coupon code here’.

If you click on that, you get redirected to the UEFN portal.
In the top right corner, you will see a pop-up that says something like ‘get your free marvelous designer 1 year license here’

Click that and they will send you your code.

You’re right and am so happy i was silly enough not to click on the check eligibilty before writing the post!

I am currently about to start step 5, waiting for the 2 emails to proceed and create the Hyperwallet profile.

Thanks for clearing things out

Do I have to check all of these to get marvelous designer?
this campaign is …

it actually states that point 2 and 3 are an OR, so either 7 out of 30 days OR spent 73 dollars.

However, seems like your region is not supported, so you’d have to move

How long did you wait after creating the account before they sent you the license code?

haven’t received mine yet, the notification simply said ‘we’ll send you your code via email, it can take a few days’.

will update here once I have received it
