Marquee deselect in viewport

It would be great if it was possible to marquee deselect controls (with shift or control, for example) in Animation Mode as easily as marquee selecting them. When the Animator works, it slows the work down when they need to deselect the controls one by one.

This is one of most requested features amongst the Animators.

Steps to Reproduce
In Animation Mode, marquee select several controls and then try to marquee deselect some of them

We might try that. But I guess it’s not gonna be until at least 5.8 preview, is that correct? Or is it planned for even later?

Unfortunately, I don’t have a timeline for the change. One of the best things to do is watch the mainline github to see if it comes in, and as it does you can see how difficult it might be to cherry pick it.

This will be included in a future release, not as a backport to the current release. As it comes in, you could attempt to cherry-pick the change, but without knowing the implementation or what it could be tied to in terms of other work, I wouldn’t know how feasible that would be until it’s been done.
