Great News! !
I think this will be one of the biggest parts of the market. Blueprints and Game starter kit will be HUGE!!!
Already working on some stuff for Shooters.
Hope others do the same and are willing to share their knowledge.
Im trying to work on some tools/plugins for RPG elements. If everything turns out well, you will be able to click on a button on the top toolbar that will create a base Blueprint for you with all of your character/enemy meshes, animations, stats, stat progression, inventory, etc etc. Granted, this is a large undertaking for one person… but if I can nail this down, I know it will get used by a number of people.
I started creating new realistic weapons some hours ago, but Im still trying to understand all BP have, I would like to know if you make interesting advances!
This makes me excited for the future! The marketplace is going to be ridiculously useful.
I am so excited for Unreal Engine 4’s future, because not only is the marketplace going to allow developers to share content, but also if you look in the plugins area, there’s mention of allow us to create our own plugins, which can allow the software to improve in areas Epic might not even be working on at the moment.
Seriously, this is great for games, gamers and developers alike and I cannot wait to see what the future has in store for UE4 on an open platform like this.
I blueprint marketplace is also something I would like to see. Basic game type example. The list can go forever.
First person camera system
Third person camera system
Character controls with keyboard and joystick input
Inventory systems
Health systems
Projectile shooting and melee
Basic AI enemy types
Tutorials for these or just marketplace packages to buy. Either would be amazing!
A bunch of that was taken care of people in the UE4 beta.
Whether they decide to put them on the marketplace/wiki is up to them.
I like making Parcour Movement, Wallrun etc.
Yeah, but Unity’s store is really bad. If we implemented a rating system, and an actual interface that let you browse by more than category, then we can better filter out the **** from the gems.
I agree! Especially on the interface part! Searching is almost as important as the content that is uploaded, in my opinion.
Something not many have brought up that would be a cool feature:
Being able to browse the Marketplace through an Internet Browser.
If you’re out and about, on the toilet or just not in front of Unreal Engine, it’d be really handy to be able to check out Assets and buy them on the go. Maybe you’re at home and you see an Asset that would kick **** , so instead of waiting to get to the Work PC, you could purchase the Asset and download it when you get onto the Work PC.
This would also help Marketplace content providers to advertise their work outside of the Marketplace and link them to the Marketplace content in question.
Just a suggestion but I think it’d be uber-helpful!
^ Agreed, this would be handy.
This is not only a good idea from useability standpoint, but also from an advertising standpoint. “look at all this great content you have access to simply by signing up with UE4”. It probably isn’t necessary to buy through the website, but i’d say browsing is a must-have-feature.
I’ve been thinking of porting Suimono Interactive Water System from Unity over to UE4…
- multiple water types
- automatic interaction (splash effects, underwater generation, buoyancy)
- automatic ocean / shoreline generation
- easily customizable / preset system
It would take a bit of time for me to learn a bit more about ue4’s way of doing things, but if there’s a demand for this type of thing here I would seriously consider it. It’s such early days that it’s hard to get a grasp on exactly what types of assets / plugins would be in demand in UE4.
What do you guys think?

That could really benefit my project over here on UE4! That’s a "That would be " from me -
