MAPS CORRUPT BECAUSE BACKEDP UP BY ONE DRIVE. CAN I RECOVER?

HELLO I WANTED TO KNOW IF THEIR IS A WAY TO RECOVER PROJECTS FROM UEFN THAT HAVE BEEN CORRUPT BECAUSE OF ONE DRIVE MAYBE RECOVER THE FILES FOR MY LAST PUBLISHED PROJECT FOR THAT MAP I LOST ALL THE MAPS THAT I FIRST MADE STARTIN WITH UEFN BECAUSE I WAS BACKED UP ON ONE DRIVE .CAN SOMEONE HELP ME WITH THIS ISSUE ?

ONEDRIVE IS NOT GOING TO CORRUPT YOUR FILES YOUR FILES WERE ALREADY CORRUPTED ASSUMING THEYRE CORRUPTED AT ALL.

No, but seriously, OneDrive is a cloud. It gives what you put in. Don’t rely on clouds to save your work, in the future. You should always, ALWAYS, have multiple copies of your work. Preferably:

  1. Internal Hard Drive
  2. Removeable Hard Drive / Storage Device
  3. Cloud Service (assuming you have the space)

None of these solutions are effective with UEFN, best way to backup your project is the Source Control.
Using local backups or cloud services might actually corrupt your data.
Do I have a solution?
Unfortunately not…

Depends on your last check-in, if you have checked in it might be OK.

In that case… try this but take care

Move all your Projects from your current Projects Folder on OneDrive to somewhere UEFN can’t see them.

Make an empty Projects Folder outside of One Drive

Go into UEFN and create a new project (ignore your files) just to get to the Edit menu Edit Preferences and add a new Projects Folder pointing to your new empty folder.

Exit

Now you can either…
Reload UEFN and hopefully you’ll have the option to download your projects, if you have been checking in often.

Or if you don’t check in changes much, try copying your moved project files to the new folder then load UEFN and hope they work from there.

MY PROBLEM WAS I WAS NOT TAKING A SNAP SHOT OF MY PROJECTS WITH REVISION CONTROL SO I WAS NOT ABLE TO RECOVER THE LAST TIME I PUBLISHED IT WEN IT WAS WORKING CORRECTLY. I WAS BACKED UP ON ONEDRIVE AND ONEDRIVE DOES KIND OF CORRUPT THE FILES IT LITTERALLY DUPLICATED ALL MY FILES IN THE PROJECT SO WEN I OPEN PROJECT EVERYTHING IS ALL OVER THE PLACE.BUT I FOUND A SOLUTION DO NOT BACK UP ON ANY CLOUD SERVICE JUST BACK UP TO HARD DRIVE ON YOUR PC OR BACKUP TO ANY EXTERNAL HARDRIVE . THIS WOULD BE MY ADVICE. IM STILL LEFT WITH THE PROBLEM THAT THOSE MAPS THAT ONE DRIVE CORRUPTED I WAS NEVER ABLE TO FIX BECAUSE IT BASICALLY SPAWNED IN EVERYTHING I EVER EDITED ON THE MAP WICH MAKES IT IMPROSSIBLE TO UNDO.

I WILL GIVE THIS A TRY @Hardcawcanary

Very useful! Thanks

My maps keep moving automatically to one drive. My whole computer is backed up on one drive.

Extremely annoying. I’ve never loaded from the backup it just automatically moves the filepath to the backups. Please fix this having to reload from the other filepath every week is very annoying.

im sorry but the best way is to get a external hardrive or a just use the storage on your computer for better storage safety .one drive will indeed mess up allot of your work it will erase and also corrupt your files . i recommend takin screenshots of your maps often aswell and checkin changes because then they will be easier to recover

facts!! I was in the middle of working on a project then randomly my one drive start to ā€œsyncā€ and now UEFN just crashes when I try and load that map … I even made sure the files weren’t on one drive, but they automaticly got ā€œbacked upā€ by one drive and it now crashes UEFN like wwwwtttttffff

That is not good… Have you been Checkin in Changes, How long since your last Snapshot ?

One Drive thinks it owns your User folders (well I guess it does EULA).
Make a folder for projects at C:\Somewhere and change your editor preferences to point there
