Opened my project up today and I can’t find map I’ve been working on. I cant find it in windows explorer but editor won’t recognize it. Any way to try to recover it? I’ve spent a lot of time on it and really don’t want to lose it.
Just an update: I set it as default load level and got this error:
Failed to open map file. This is most likely because map was saved with a newer version of engine.
Hey sanford87,
Did you try to convert a project from a newer engine version to an earlier version? While this is technically possible in some ways, many things won’t convert backwards. If this is case, you will probably only be able to open that map in project from its original (or later) engine version.
no, project was built entirely in 4.6
Hm. Did you move the .umap file at some point? It needs to be in your project’s Content folder. Did project crash sometime before this became a problem?
Hi sanford87,
We haven’t heard from you in a while, so I’m marking this post resolved for tracking purposes. Please let me know if you are still having this problem and we can continue investigating. Thanks!
Make sure the .umap file is in your Content folder inside of your project directory, otherwise it won’t load. You cannot import these files through editor, but they will show up as long as they are in content folder, and have not been created with a newer version of engine.
It’s possible that somewhere file got corrupted, of course, and if this is case you can try grabbing one of backups (assuming that one was created) from your project’s Saved->Backups folder. You can then grab that .umap file and move it in to your project’s Content folder and it should show up in project.
Hi, i have same issue in my eu4 26.1 editor
