Many gameplay/mobility items are broken when used directly from the Fortnite Digest

Summary

When items are referenced/granted directly from the Fortnite Digest in Verse (e.g. via inventory CreateItem / AddItemDistribute using a concrete_subtype(entity) from the Digest), the core functionality of many gameplay items — especially mobility and special-action items — is completely broken. Affected behaviors include movement/mobility abilities not activating, alt-fire actions not working, slow/status effects not applying, missing reticles, and missing VFX.

Items confirmed broken so far:

  • Bass Boost
  • Shock and Slow (does not slow)
  • Ice King’s Gauntlets (alt shoot)
  • Seven Power Gloves
  • Surf Cube
  • Dial-A-Drop
  • Killswitch Revolvers
  • Lightrider’s Surf Cube
  • Falcon Scout
  • Myst Gauntlets (VFX)
  • The Kneecapper
  • Typhoon Blade
  • Wings of Icarus
  • Ballistic Shield
  • Chiller Grenade
  • Hop Rock Dualies (maybe)
  • Jules’ Glider Gun
  • Overdrive
  • Rocket Drill
  • Wingsuit
  • Ascended Myst (VFX)
  • Chainsaw
  • Grapple Glove (no reticle)
  • Skyline Deployer
  • Thunderbolt of Zeus
  • Nitro Splash

Verse

Steps to Reproduce

  1. In a Verse project, reference one of the affected items directly from the Fortnite Digest (concrete_subtype(entity)).
  2. Create the item entity (inventory.CreateItem[…]) and grant it to a player (AddItemDistribute).
  3. Equip the item in-game.
  4. Attempt to use the item’s primary action, alt-fire, or mobility/movement ability.
  5. Observe that the core functionality (movement, alt-fire, slow effect, reticle, or VFX) does not work as it does with the normal in-game version of the item.

Expected Result

Items used directly from the Fortnite Digest should behave identically to their normal in-game counterparts. Mobility abilities should activate, alt-fire actions should function, status effects (e.g. slow) should apply, reticles should display, and all associated VFX should play correctly.

Observed Result

When the affected items are used after being granted directly from the Fortnite Digest, their core functionality is broken or missing. Depending on the item, the mobility/movement ability does not activate, alt-fire does nothing, the slow/status effect is not applied, the reticle is missing, and/or the associated VFX do not play. The items do not behave like their normal in-game versions.
