Make my character non affected by light

Hello,

I’m a brand new user of UE5, and i’m trying to learn the engine.

Wondering how to keep the projected shadow of my gecko, but without the shadow under the body (same as the right image).
I want his body to not to be affected by my directional light.

I checked both into web doc and inside UE, made a lot of test, but nothing works.
Imo the issue is from the materials, but i have no clue and node are way to hard for a beginner.

Any idea ?

Thanks !

Try typing “shadow” when you mesh is selected and in details panel look at your shadow settings for the mesh. You can have your mesh cast a shadow or have a self shadow.

Select the character mesh in the Blueprint viewport, and search for “Channel” in the Details Panel. It receives light by default on Channel 0. Just disable that.
