Summary
When a player begins matchmaking from the lobby, this causes a server wide hitch for about 1 - 5 seconds before that player joins into the game. This results in major rubber banding and a generally frustrating and unplayable experience, as players are constantly joining and leaving the game.
- We believe this is related to persistable devices, such as the timer, switch, and/or save point devices.
- It’s possible that only player with existing persistence in the island code are causing the lag spike, whereas new players may not (unconfirmed).
- We were previously able to resolve this in another project by TURNING OFF auto-load on a timer device that had persistence enabled, and manually loading it after the player joins.
- We have tried turning off auto-save and auto-load on all persistable devices.
- We have tried DELETING all persistable devices and the issue still occurs.
- We are using 6 timers, 17 switches, 2 save point devices.
- We are using Verse persistence alongside these devices.
