[Major] Rocket Racing vehicle accelerates and brakes on the left stick, which is also the steering stick

Summary

Since 42.10, the Rocket Racing vehicle spawned by the Rocket Racing vehicle spawner accelerates when the left stick is pushed forward and brakes and decelerates when it is pulled back. The left stick is also the steering axis, so a player cannot turn without changing speed and cannot hold a speed through a corner. The triggers still work as before (R2 accelerates, L2 brakes), so this is an extra throttle axis layered onto the steering axis rather than a deliberate remap. This is not the accelerate-with-left-stick controller setting: that setting is for vehicles whose default scheme already puts throttle on the stick, and the Rocket Racing vehicle’s default scheme is L2 and R2, as it was before. The result is that the vehicle cannot be driven with any precision on a controller.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. In a UEFN island, place a Rocket Racing vehicle spawner and leave its settings at their defaults.
  2. Start the game and enter the spawned Rocket Racing vehicle, using a controller.
  3. Without touching R2 or L2, push the left stick fully forward, then pull it fully back.
  4. Then drive with R2 and steer with the left stick, and take a corner.

Expected Result

The left stick steers the vehicle only. Throttle and brake stay on R2 and L2, the Rocket Racing vehicle’s own control scheme, so steering and speed are independent and a corner can be taken at a held speed.

Observed Result

Pushing the left stick forward accelerates the vehicle and pulling it back brakes and decelerates it, with the triggers untouched. Because the same stick steers, every steering input also changes speed, and holding a speed through a corner is not possible. R2 and L2 still accelerate and brake as before.

Can confirm this, crazy we once again have RR vehicle broken.

Yeah, every other update there are new issues with that car spawner. I also think there are some major sound issues, but I haven’t had time to investigate them for a report yet.

oh wow what a weird and annoying change

Hey! Thanks for reporting,

We’re escalating this internally
