(Major) Conversation events don't work unless connected to response nodes

Summary

If a conversation event is hooked within the Conversation Bank to “Speech” or “Default Entry Point” nodes, it won’t fire, regardless the device its connected. This prevents dialogues with spoken voice lines (can only voice player now, need to be able to voice NPC too).


This immediately becomes an issue when we can’t workaround this limitation by doing something like the following:

Steps to Reproduce

Place a conversation device with a button to activate it and setup a conversation bank where a conversation event happens from default entry point (see image).
After that add a speech node, and connect to event number 2.
Lastly, add a response and connect that to event 3
Hook up all events to something you can observe while testing
Test

Expected Result

Events 1-3 fire up in game

Observed Result

Only event 3 will work

Turns out I was doing it wrong. For it to work, flow has to directly pass through the event and with no other pathways to the next node, as shown in this tweet: x.com
