Major - Cinematic Sequencer's Restore State to OFF doesnt work

This is an issue that has caused 80% of all my bugs while testing Domus Mortem. I have around 300 actors that I animate during gameplay, and nearly all of them I want to keep their state after ending the animation. But the setting on the cinematic sequence device “restore state” to OFF will still restore their state.

I ve seen countless creators get confused about that, and very few know the workaround from within the sequencer. This is a major bug and would save so much time I hadn’t have to set keep state every single time I am animating something, because 70% of the times I forget to tweak that setting, then I get so many gameplay bugs when testing that I then have to go back to the sequence and fix (counting around 40 notes from testing just because of that).

Thanks, Wert. Getting this in front of the team.

Hey @Wertandrew - it looks like this is a known issue and the team is look for ways to make it more intuitive.

The setting stops working after you add more than one sequencer, its not about UX but its clearly a bug since the setting doesnt work. The setting in the cinematic sequencer device has to keep state regardless of how many sequencers I have in the map, that would fix this issue AND help new creators (because 80% of all animations you need to keep state, being the default is good!)

I’d rather they remove this function instead of changing the way it works, I do this setting through the Sequence itself because I might only want to restore some items, changing this right now I feel would be terrible.

True, but keep state should be the default for new cinematic sequencers placed, I think what happens is that the project default is considered restore state atm, and project default is what causes the issues bc UE stuff rarely breaks, so something its telling it to break atm.

You mind sharing the workaround? I can’t get it to work even if I right click the static mesh in sequencer and choose “keep state”. Is there any other way? What happens is my meshes actually stay but they’re invisible for some reason.

From inside the sequencer:
