Mac VSM and Soft Shadows

I am just starting to learn Unreal, using a Macbook with M1 Silicon and Unreal 5.3.2

I cannot seem to affect the quality of the shadows using the various “source radius” settings of any light source- Point, Spotlight, Rect.

I have tried enabling Lumen. I have tried enabling Ray Tracing. I combed through all instances in the project settings.

I have tried enabling “Distance Field Shadows” in the lights, which kind of works, but not the way it should be.

For reference, here is a video of what I am trying to emulate.

I have made all the same adjustments, but my shadows will not change. I have tried static, stationary, and moveable. I am at a total loss, I can’t follow along to any tutorials because my lighting looks totally different and I cannot replicate the results.
