For maximal tracing quality, you can always go lumen.screenprobegather.referencemode. It’s designed to match the path tracer by just cranking the ray count and disabling importance sampling, with generally good results.
Going off of the lumen team’s talk, the ‘AO-like shadows’ are their contact AO implementation to add some shadow resolve that lumen’s screen probe method can’t handle. There’s most likely a CVar to remove them, I wouldn’t know it off the top of my head alas.
