Hello, I am using Live Link Hub to record facial animations from an iPhone 12. These recordings work, I can play them back from Live Link Hub and viewing a MetaHuman BP with “Use Live Link” enabled and the correct “Live Link Subject” set, the animations playback on my MetaHuman, COOL!
I have dug thru the docs and cant seem to find any information on the “Live Link UAsset Recording” format. Right clicking on it has nothing, drag and drop into a sequencer with a MetaHuman doesnt seem to do anything either.
Do I have to play it back and use the Take Recorder to then record it?
How do I actually turn these recordings into an animation I can use?
This is correct. You can record the animation with Take Recorder. If you have the metahuman animating your level already then all you need to do is open the take recorder panel in UE and add the metahuman actor to the list of recorder sources. See this documentation on how to use Take Recorder:
I would recommend you set the Metahuman to force using LOD1 - you can do this by selecting the LOD sync component in the instance copy of the metahuman (the one listed in the outliner) NOT the one in the blueprint editor as that is the template default object - and set “Forced LOD” == 1.
Oh, thats disappointing. Is there a plan for going directly from the takes in Live Link Hub to animations? Seems like such a round about way and a lot of manual work. Would be nice to just right click on a take and just convert to animation.
I don’t think our initial version would be an implementation of Live Link Hub Recording directly to animation sequence. It is more feasible to export from a Live Link Hub recording to Live Link Take Recording. From there it’s relatively simple to bake in sequencer to an animation sequence.
