I am getting the following error when trying to ingest footage captured in the Live Link Face App version 1.4.0 (see images attached)
When I try to ingest footage that I captured in PREVIOUS VERSIONS of Live Link Face App, the ingest is successful, leading me to believe that Live Link Face Version 1.4.0 (which was released 6 days ago as of the writing of this post) broke something.
Additionally, Depth Preview in Live Link Face app is not working. When I toggle it on, the preview is the same as when the toggle is off.
The issue occurred with:
iPhone 16 Pro 18.2.1 (and also a previous version whose number I didn’t write down)
Live Link App Version 1.4.0 (which I uninstalled and reinstalled)
Unreal Engine 5.5.4 and Unreal Engine 5.5.1
Windows 11
Everything I am using is up to date as far as I know.

Depth Preview Error:
Open Live Link Face app
Go to Settings > Preview Depth > Toggle it ON
Go back to the main screen. You should see the same camera preview as before, not the Depth Preview.
We’re sorry that you’ve been having trouble using the Live Link Face App on your iPhone 16 Pro.
It looks like there’s an issue with the iPhone 16 family of devices where depth data may not be captured and therefore may be missing from recorded takes. As you’ve seen this causes the ingest process to fail within Unreal Engine.
If the depth preview within the app is not displaying correctly this is actually an indicator that depth data is not being captured.
Whilst we look into a solution there are a couple of workarounds you can try. In both cases we recommend that you double check depth is being captured by viewing the depth preview, prior to recording any takes:
Switch to 30 FPS Capture
After processing in UE the final animation frame rate is 30 FPS even if the video is recorded at 60. This is because the depth data can only be captured at 30 FPS max. If you’re happy with this approach go to the in-app settings and change the ‘Target Frame Rate’ to 30 FPS. The quality of the final animation result in UE will be unchanged if generated from 30 FPS footage.
Restart the 60 FPS Capture Session
If you’d like to continue capturing 60 FPS video alongside 30 FPS depth data then restarting the capture session should get things working again. The simplest way to do this is to send the app to the background by swiping up and returning to the home screen then resuming the Live Link Face App. Note that if the app is quit completely and re-launched the original problem will return, so you may find that switching to 30 FPS is the more reliable option for now.
