Most of my models are in GLTF, USDZ and GLB formats. Please have a look at the attached screenshot and ,Dae should be skipped automatically, that’s the idea about migration, you only migrate necessary files, right?
I think the best thing to do is to basically stop using Sketchfab/Fab and try to move onto other platforms. It was… well, not “great”… “mostly good” while it lasted.
Every artistic endeavor sort of just gets punched in the face, these days, and the games industry is a bonfire full of fearful people. For Epic to do this at this time? Remarkably incompetent.
This will be a “Look at our new platform!” which a large portion of artist will respond to with “I’m literally not here anymore, I give up”.
I am feeling quite overwhelmed by this entire migration process. It’s becoming quite stressful, and I need to focus on my own priorities rather than getting caught up in their issues. While I hope they find a solution, I’m relieved that I anticipated these challenges and can avoid unnecessary stress.
I hope this finds you well. I wanted to bring to your attention some issues I’ve been having with the manual fix. Unfortunately it doesn’t seem to work as expected and I lost almost a day of valuable time.
The manual solution shows the model without textures for the FBX format, which looks quite bad. When I try the GLTF format, extracting the technical information takes an extremely long time, and even after a few hours, the message “extracting technical information” still appears. In addition, the Sketchfab to Fab process seems to be broken for those who have uploaded their models via Substance. The quality of Fab 3D is also noticeably worse than Sketchfab.
Could you please let me know when we can expect these issues to be fully resolved?
Hey Kenzie, have you managed to migrate at least one model from Sketchfab to Fab? Check out my progress on one of my models—it’s pretty disappointing link to issue Request for Improved FAB Integration with Substance Painter Models. I guess it’s technically impossible even with GLT. My Windows 3D Viewer handles it fine, image attached!
