Limit Lens Flare to Sun only (disable from reflections)?

Hi, is it at all possible to have a lens flare only affect a sun (directional light) but not have lens flares show up in reflections (a wet puddle)? Threshold does not work, as the reflection in the puddle is actually brighter than the sun lamp. Can you limit this with lighting channels or…?

Thanks!

Did you ever figure this out? I feel like the sun flare is cool in the sun but is distracting when it is on other objects.

Hi John, no, I never found a solution to this. Threshold “should” have worked, but maybe when combined with “bloom” the reflections become too bright and actually exceed the source lamp’s brightness which confuses the threshold setting.

I would like to know this too, I have a PostProcessVolume set to Unbound and the Sun reflections are causing undesired Lens Flare on surface.

I’ve been looking for an answer to this as well. Everyone tells me to use this AnswerHub, but it’s flooded with people having the same problems without answers for years.

Hey! I don’t know who needs to hear this now but I solved this by putting a negative intensity value in the intensity property of the Lens flare in the PPV and setting it to be unbound. -5 seemed to nix all lens flairs in a nighttime scene with lots of reflections.
