Hi i’m fairly new to importing static meshes to levels, and i’ve run into this problem more than once. Can someone give me a fool proof method so that when I import meshes, im not met with a overlapping UV message after building lighting and black textures. I know it has something to do with rebuilding UVs but im a noob and dont understand. some of the meshes are purchased online and they always end up having the same type of problem. How would I go about this in a 3D program? Im currently using Cinema 4D.
Hi!
I think your mesh contain only one UV Set. For build Lightmap, Unreal use secondary UV Set. Check UV setting you model in CINEMA 4D. If it contain only one UV, just copy existing UV from main set to second, and export mesh. Reimport in UE4, and try build lightmap.
And look collection of Lightmap tutorials. I think this help too. Unreal Engine 4 Lightmap Overlapping Error - YouTube
