Lighting issues when cast on a static mesh

Hi, I’m working on a project and for the terrain I’m using a static mesh I edited in a voxel program and imported. When trying to add a directional light everything looks as it should but whenever I build the light it disappears. Now here’s the tricky part, the light is still there just the static mesh or terrain, isn’t getting hit by it. It just goes through it. Is there any reason for this or any way to stop it?
