Lighting from windows too bright!

Guys,

Does anyone know why the light coming in to this room from the windows is “off the charts” dazzling, whilst the light in the room itself is so dark?

I want to evenly light up the room, I’ve switched off the eye adaptation by setting min max fps camera autoexposure to 1.0, there is also a light source directional light with an intensity of 1.0?

Please help!

Things that can change your brightness is auto exposure in post processing - play around with this. It will effect how bright! the windows are in relation to the room.

Make sure you set the post processing to unbound too for it to affect the whole scene

also I saw you turned it off? Why did you do this as if you turn it back on and play around with the brightness it’ll sort this issue.

I don’t have a post processing volume in my map, but I had an issue if when I went into the room the room would flare up in brightness then gradually get as dark as it still does, then stays dark and it was pretty frustrating.

But this is just as bad, what settings should I play with and are their any that you’d recommend for a single indoor based level?

I’d really appreciate your help as this is the last thing I need to do to finish this map.

I’d massively appreciate that thank you so much!

Okay post processing volume is a really important part of making a nice map - so many great settings in there. I’ll have a quick go now at making a basic room and I’ll show you my settings

Hi sorry there isn’t much point me making a room as auto exposure is dependent on your level. Okay but what you will need to do is drop in the post processing like I said - turn on unbound - turn on auto exposure and tweak Max brightness (read what it says when you hover over it). But usually if your level is too bright you need to increase it so:

Default is 2 - try 3 or 4? Or simply just move it till happy.

For your next level you want to do this early on as it effects everything in your scene

sorry also you need to drag in a skylight to make your level less dark inside the room - this effects shadow color/brightness

Thank you so much for that, I’ll monkey about with this when I get back to my computer and I’ll let you know how I get on.

Many thanks for all your kind help it really is much appreciated!

glad to help if you found one of my answers helpful please mark it as answered

Thanks ergoproxy, sorry for my late response, seems its sorted out with your very kind advice!
