Light leaking through mesh imported from Maya (UE5)

Hey everyone,

I’m having some trouble with light leaking on a model I exported from Maya as an FBX. Texturing went fine, but I’m seeing light hitting areas that should be completely dark.

I’m pretty new to Unreal and I can’t figure out what’s causing this. Here’s what I’ve checked so far:

  • Normals: They are correct/facing the right way.

  • Material: I enabled “Two-Sided” in the material settings, but the light still bleeds through.

I’m not sure if there’s a specific setting in the light source or the mesh itself that I need to tweak. I’ve been digging into this for a while now but I’m stuck.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

pls help jaja

Hi @XIIRod ! This usually happens in corners if a mesh is thin. You could try putting some cubes in the corner but on the outside.

Here is an example where I put cubes in the corners for light blocking:

omg thx bro, you help me a lot. u are a genius!!!

That’s great to hear! This is sadly a common problem.

You can mark it as solution so others easily can find the answer if they have the same problem :slightly_smiling_face:
