Light Baking, should I do it in engine or Import Baked Textures for Virtual Reality?

Hey guys,

I have almost zero experience in VR development, but I’m looking to start with Unreal. I’m pretty experienced in Blender however.

I wanted to know, is it smart to do light baking in blender and simply have unlit textures in Unreal? Is this a viable workflow for virtual reality apps? Basically I would bake the lighting directly into the diffuse color.

I would like some simple reflections and things like that, which I can import separate maps, but I just wanted to know if this is a bad approach in the first place, and if I should just learn light baking in unreal with Lightmaps?

Sorry if this is a dumb question! I have done this simple workflow into a unity app before and I avoided having to learn unity light baking because it seemed pretty terrible.

Cheers!
