I’m having trouble getting started with lidar point clouds.
When I first import a file, the point cloud will render, but almost all of the points will be black (1st image). If I save the point cloud file, then close and reopen the editor, only a tiny fraction of the original points will render, now in all kinds of random colors (2nd image). I’ve tried playing with multiple different files as well as three versions of the editor (5.2 and 4.27 exhibit this behavior; 4.24 will reload the full point cloud in black after reopening the editor). Any help is appreciated!

I found a tip in another thread that the issue regarding the vast majority of the points not rendering in play mode or after restarting the editor is fixed in the 5.3 editor. I tested it and this does seem to be the case. I imported, viewed, and instantiated multiple point clouds from LAS, LAZ, and e57 files. The 5.3 editor does indeed continue rendering the full point cloud in play mode and after an editor restart.
Even with 5.3, however I still suffer from the lack of color on my points. Does anyone else have this problem?
Edit: I was wrong about the color issue. None of the initial files I was using contained the color data. After getting some Lidar files that I confirmed have the color data (tested them in the CloudCompare app), I’ve had no further issues using lidar point clouds in the 5.3 editor.
