license question for UE4 and VS

Hi,

I am looking to find out the legalities around UE4 and Visual Studio. For instance, I was looking to use UE4 at work for just demonstrating 3D construction models in VR to clients. I believe this means that royalty payment isn’t required (correct me if I am wrong) since it isn’t being sold. I also wondered what the deal is with visual studio. Is a license required for that software due to the size of the company I work in, even if only blueprints are used?

Thanks

Rich

You’re right that the UE4 use you describe would be royalty-free.

As for VS licensing, that’s ultimately a Microsoft question. But I would encourage you to look into Visual Studio Community licensing.

An unlimited number of users within an organization can use Visual Studio Community for the following scenarios: in a classroom learning environment, for academic research, or for contributing to open source projects.
For all other usage scenarios:
In non-enterprise organizations, up to five users can use Visual Studio Community. In enterprise organizations (meaning those with >250 PCs or >$1 Million US Dollars in annual revenue), no use is permitted beyond the open source, academic research, and classroom learning environment scenarios described above.

Thank you for the information and quick response!
