Level Snapshot selection improvements + filter bug

First, it would be helpful to be able to filter based upon the actor label, right now the search bar filters based upon actor types/components or modified properties only.

Or even better, have the option to restore only the currently selected actors in the editor

Now for a bug, If you uncheck Parent category checkboxs such as “Modified actors”, then type into the search box to filter the results, and then re-check the Parent “Modified actors”.

The expected result is that only the results that are filtered will be selected; instead, all actors in that category are still chosen, as confirmed by the UI stating 8 actor(s) of 8 in snapshot will be restored.

So when you load the snapshot, every actor in the “Modified Actors” section will be loaded, not just the ones you’ve filtered.

Steps to Reproduce
1. Place down several copies of two different actor types

2. Create a Level Snapshot

3. Selected all the actors and make them hidden in game.

4. Load the level snapshot, uncheck the parent “Modified actors” checkbox, type in the search bar one of the types of actors, the view will be filtered to show only that actor type

5. Check the parent “Modified Actors” checkbox again

6. Load snapshot

Every actor in the “Modified Actors” section will be loaded, not just the ones you’ve filtered.

Hey Matthew,

Sorry for the delay, as the ticket has been deferred to the Product team for a more detailed response. They should be getting back to you shortly.

Best regards

Michael

Hi Matthew.

We’ll log dev tickets for these, I actually think the search not showing based on actor name should also be considered a bug in addition to the one you reported on the parent category checkboxes.

I’m not sure if we’ll be able to get to these for UE 5.7 though, and one of the candidate features for UE 5.8 is a refresh/redesign of the filters for Level Snapshots. This is an area that I’ve been wanting to revisit for a while now with an eye toward making them more robust and flexible without having to make additional Blueprints. There are some UX concepts from Movie Render Graph’s Render Layers/Collections that could make sense to incorporate. If you’re up for it, maybe we could do a call in the near future and I can show you some WIP UX design ideas for feedback?

Ryan.

Thanks Ryan, a call in the future sounds great!
