What is the current attitude of Epic towards releasing galleries after POIs?
Sometimes new POIs like these c6 ones release immediately while previous season galleries and prefabs release up to years later.
Why is this mixed up? And would it help you if Epic complete releasing galleries of previous chapters and seasons first or current seasons higher up in priority?
Hey guys, bit late to the party, hopefully my questions can be heard.
Creators in early creative had content picked mainly for achieving excellency in their niche, hand picked and featured manually. While in this system, I pursued quality content of a variety of genres and found success through featuring. In the current system, one cannot pursue excellency anymore, as the primary factor for success is making a mainstream game that an unknown algorithm likes, if you are lucky and are close, you do extremely well. But make the mistake of building a new genre or trying something new, and its a guaranteed fail. This causes the ecosystem to not focus on quality but rather other goals, like marketing or retention tactics. Do you want as Epic to be like that, or focus on quality like before? If second, what plans do you have to bring back quality?
Besides Discovery which focuses specifically on amplifying trends, are there any other platform tools planned that focus on user ratings, player tags and per-map player reviews /feedback to better allow players to communicate and play safely in the ecosystem?
Are there any plans to help small creators find success and have project sustainability over everything that is preventing that right now (eg scammers, large content creators stealing their content, uefn bugs affecting testing, updates breaking content, etc.).
And finally:
Discovery currently understands trends and essentially aids the popular be even more popular. Many call it “luck” finding success with a map, even for a little bit. Are there any plans to allow innovation and great games shine, even if they do not abide by what makes a game popular in current ecosystem (combat, build battles, player builds, multiplayer)
When posting maps, why is verse the main reason for it to be pushed? I understand that verse makes the map unique, but can’t anyone just make a simple map and throw a bunch of verse devices onto it not linked at all/ stolen, and have it be pushed more in discover, right?
The only ting i want is a survival horror tag or moderate the survival tag for only maps that are survival related (health, hunger, thirsty, etc) becuase its a little frustrating trying to find something innovative in fortnite and the only maps that apper in the survival tag is (FPS, 16VS16 or Prop hunt) obviusly in those maps you gotta survive but if we put it like that in every map you need to survive because you can get eliminated thanks for reading
Are there any plans in the near future to add/expand on features in the Creator Profile that allows for creators to better personalize their presence on Fortnite?
Furthermore what, if any, plans are there to implement features in the Creator Profile and/or Fortnite that would give creators the ability to interact with players who engage with their games/islands?
For example, YouTube Community Posts allows channels the ability to interact with their audience via polls, quizzes, text, images, etc. A similar feature like this but in Fortnite/Creator Profile feels like this would give teams & individuals a beneficial alternative to develop a following as opposed to relying heavily on Discover or Social Media outreaching. Could something like this be possible?
Why does a map get on the “news and updated” row, but after 20 min disappearing, even though good engagment and plays? Is there even a chance for a map to get on further discovery rows after “news and updated”?
Strict rules and disallowing ideas/possibilities to avoid bad creators practices are needed, but, many times these rules are too generic, does not fit well to all bad behaviors found on the platform, while also impacting good creators with fair and non-abusing intentions.
Has plans to change how this works to be more flexible? For example maybe adding different Trust Levels such as how Unreal Engine Forums work.
Disallowing “untrusted” creators to make some practices, but allowing “trusted” creators to make/use it, based on behavior and feedback from other creators and players from the community on the past…
Epic currently choose to use a more preventive moderation method for the platform, instead of a more corrective moderation based on community reports, can we ask why that was the decision?
Many bad practices found today are done in a way made to avoid or bypass rules or detection during preventive moderation, due to lack of context or information during reviews. This, including generic rules lead to lots of false-positives for good and fair creators, and false-negatives for bad creators.
Is there any plans to avoid it happening, such as giving more importance to corrective moderation? (For example, community reports infringing content through official forms taken with more priority, and making preventive moderation more context specific based?)
Why the team made the game with only a option to “Like”? There are plans to add a option to “Unlike”? This would display more accurate feedback based on players, allowing for more ganullar control when players search for experiences to play in Discovery. For reference, Fortnite.GG has a good rating system that is easy to understand and analyze what community likes or not
Also about the “like/recommend”, in my opinion a better approach would be something like: “Show feedback question when leaving island, one time each day after playing the map”, instead of allowing players to select it any time during the game itself. That would lead to less abusing CTAs practices telling players to stop gameplay just to like it, many times attached to misleading messages such as rewards or other traiths.
Have plans to add filters when looking the Discovery? Currently, even looking for a specific row need to scroll and read one by one until finding it.
I’ve seen more filtering options being added to Store, Locker, Compete, Creative 1.0 Devices/Prefab inventory and other menus, all has good filters, but Discovery is still behind it, without filtering (tags/keywords/themes/rows) and without sorting (current players/most liked/date updated). All this can be good aditions to filter content based on interests and improve discoverability.
Community have also given many discovery row ideas on the past that looks promissing, such as “Random” with refresh button to get literally random islands, “Friends Playing right now” and so on… Are any these taken into consideration for the future?
Have plans for epic adding 2-way communication with moderation on the future, or even other teams? such as to ask for details and, when needed, even confront a decision about publish rejection for example? Human moderation is hard and can be biased due to cultural opinions and different interpretations. Some of these interpretations may lead to inaccurate judgements, with hard or no way of explaining things back or confronting it. Epic has already Live-Chat and Email support team that is 2-way communication, but creator relations with moderation is blindfolded an 1-way only, sometimes leading to more work and repeated iterations on both creator side and moderators checking the island.
Would more discovery tabs be considered as its hard for a map to make it out of the starting tab. We used to have trending and gaining traction + some other tabs that helped you make it out of the starting tabs.
Will Epic/Fortnite Creative aim to try to communicate changes / future plans more regularly/clearly in the future and aim to have better communication generally?
Are there any plans for honest creators or high quality islands to receive more ‘benefits’. Currently there is only Epic Pick’s which rewards unique islands; will there potentially be new rows/categories like this to promote the quality islands that currently exist?
My question is why does Discovery allow blatant IP Theft and Copy/Paste Islands and Thumbnails while Epic Game Store would never be allowed to be as bad. Is there any communication between the companies? Does anyone at Fortnite ever bother looking at Discovery? Why did I report multiple McDonalds vs Burger King Islands just to have the moderation say they are not breaking the rules? There isn’t any point in making anything original when the entire scam map community has the ecosystem on lock. I’d also suggest re-age verifying everyone because when I ask the average creator, they range between the ages of 12 to 16. Of course they’d never admit it to an Epic employee but sending someone in undercover would reveal it fast.
Will your team ever push back the use of AI-Generated images used in the thumbnails of experiences? AI-Generated images don’t encourage creativity and expression, but encourage laziness.
Why are some maps featured despite having lower statistics?
Hello,
I’d like to better understand how Fortnite’s island featuring algorithm actually works. After analyzing various maps and discussing with multiple creators, I’ve noticed that some islands with significantly lower performance metrics (playtime, CTR, retention, new players to the ecosystem, etc.) are getting much more visibility compared to other, well-designed maps with better overall stats.
This trend seems to encourage the mass production of PVP maps like Red vs Blue and similar formats, rather than supporting more unique and creative experiences that truly enhance the Creative mode.
Does the algorithm inherently favor these types of maps? Is the Creative ecosystem oversaturated with PVP maps, making it harder for original and high-quality islands to be showcased? Wouldn’t a more diverse selection in the featured section help promote fresh and innovative content while rewarding creators who put in significant effort to push Creative forward?
Looking forward to your insights thank you in advance!
Can we organize our Islands throughout your Profile? for example you can make your own List/Categories for your Islands so the players can easily find your maps you’ve been creating.
Is there a reason some widely requested weapons/items are excluded from getting added? Items like the foundation MK7, midas drum gun, and zapotron have been requested for years and yet no word on them getting added. This is also the reason so much discover clickbait slop exists because they constantly use these items to falsely promote their maps despite them not actually being usable.
Will we ever get a Quality Maps tab in Discover? I believe this would encourage creators to focus on high-quality maps without the fear of their hard work going to fail after months of work.
