Less abrupt material change

I would like to make a smoother transition between the grass and the walkway. Both the sidewalk and grass plane are placed on simple cubes, if that helps anyone. If I was drawing this I would just add some shadows, possibly some grass. The grass I have covered but I don’t know how to add shadows to the edges of the intersecting planes. Or am I thinking about this all wrong, if so please someone redirect me.

You could do vertex painting to make the seams smoother -> ?v=p6O4AgSwTmQ

Thank you, I will try that.

Vertex painting is a great solution for this. Also, you can pepper some of the lined areas with meshes using similar material to give it a little more depth as well, if necessary

I would recommend using some foliage perhaps or as others have said, vertex painting.
