Landscape tile seams warping and streching

Hey!

I’ve been fighting a problem where sculpted landscape has some of it’s inner tile seams warping, tearing and streching. Makes the landscape un-paintable and un-scultable, without ugly marks. It always happens in the same location, no matter how I sculpt it. The landscape has visible fake edges and the paint/sculpt brush will go between the tiles

I’ve tried:

  • Building lighting on cinematic and
    epic quality
  • Changing all of the map’s lights
    between static, stationary and
    movable.
  • Using retopo tool
  • Smoothing the whole area
  • Flattening the whole area
  • Deleting all of the tile + 2-3 rows extra around it and re-building

I can’t copy the landscape to a new level, because I run out of memory and the editor crashes. Only thing that has worked so far is completely deleting the landscape and that is not an option.

I’ve tried to fix this for seven hours and I have ten similar maps with same type of shapes. All hand sculpted in the editor, wihtout any problems. Do you have any ideas?

Thanks in advance, Ville

More information about his map.

I packaged the project without a .pak-file and this map’s .uexp file is easily over double the size to all my other maps, which are the same size by geometry.

Ten other maps are between 30-65Mb each and the problem map is 270Mb without any special content.

This is getting really weird.

For some reason just removing the “corrupt” landscape tiles (10-15 tiles) from the total 700-800 tiles reduces the map’s size by 100Mb. That’s nearly half of the whole map’s size.

Did you ever discover a cause or solution for this? I have a 7x7 tiled world comp where one tile has started stretching along a two edges. I’m trying to track down the issue/solution, and hoping that like your were that it can be found without reverting to a prior build
