Landscape Paint Weight Blending is broken [Solved]

Summary

After this recent patch with the newly added Advanced paint layers, Landscape weight blending is behaving differently as before, where painting using a landscape brush would fully use its weight alpha. Now it seems to be using only half of it, its affected all my maps that are using a custom landscape.

Steps to Reproduce

Insert a custom landscape material that has basic weight blending and select any paint layer, and paint on the landscape

Expected Result

Painting with a different landscape layer should replace the current landscape layer’s weight alpha, instead of blending both alphas halfway.

Observed Result

Painting with a different landscape layer blends all weight layers together instead of fully weight blending.

Additional Notes

As you can see in the image provided, all layers are blending together instead of weight blending correctly.

You can mark this as solved! Advanced Weight Blending works as intended, I’m suppose to use the new No Weight Blend and use Blend Material Attributes nodes.

How do I fix this, though?

The best way to fix this is to use no weight blend in the landscape layer settings, and set up your landscape material to use “BlendMaterialAttributes” node instead, with the Alpha being the Landscape Layer Sample name. They changed the way weight blending works so its better to stick with no weight blending.

Here is a really good Landscape tutorial series by MaestroShark that helped me set up my landscape material to work with No Weight blending, hope it helps!

Thanks for the reply, but what do you mean by “with the Alpha being the Landscape Layer Sample name?” I attached an image of the only settings within that node.

The status of FORT-1024638 changed to ‘Needs Triage’. We’ve confirmed the issue and it’s waiting to be assigned to someone to fix it.
