Landscape normal maps

so, I’ve created my master material for the landscape, painted it, however the textures seem to be completely flat. My understanding is that normal maps should make textures “3D” to a certain extend, no? That doesn’t work for landscapes, or have I failed to select something somewhere? I’ve kept everything in the “details” of the material to default.

The normal maps give textures a 3d look but don’t actually change the shape of the mesh/landscape etc… What you would need to do is add a displacement texture to the material to give it an actual amount of 3d to it. :slight_smile:
