Seems like there is competition now. Voxel Plugin in Code Plugins - UE Marketplace
I guess Ali needs to pick up the pace. Both plugins are/will be pretty expensive, so people likely won’t buy both. I’ll hold off until the new year. That one currently has everything I want except for good terrain stamps and brushes. Either or, hope terrain stamps/brushes can also be easily added via alpha maps.
I made an open source plugin similar to those: https://forums.unrealengine.com/comm…e-voxel-plugin
Still a WIP, but for now it supports the following:
- Crack-free LOD (transvoxel)
- Blueprint interface
- Textures with triplanar projection
- Multithreaded
- Generation of custom worlds (only c++)
- Multiplayer with custom TCP sockets
- Landscape import
- Mesh import
- Spline import
- Easy load/save
- Up to 256 materials (in practice limited by the absence of texture arrays in UE4)
- Water (WIP, not working for now)
- Dynamic slicing
- Tesselation
- Grass
- Pathfinding support

Sorry for thread hijack.
I’d hold off until Landscape Architect before buying anything. The Demo available made by CodeSpartan does not identify when fractures are floating in the air and give it physics. Even the Free Voxel Plugin manages that.
Hey ,
Any progress / updates to LA? Even a response would be great as a lot of us are eagerly waiting for an update
For anyone else subbed to this thread, waiting for Voxel terrain, we now have a few options:
GitHub - Phyronnaz/VoxelPlugin: Voxel Plugin for Unreal Engine - Open source plugin, but it stutters on LOD change (at time of writing)
https://www.unrealengine.com/marketplace/voxel-plugin - closed plugin, but it does no LOD
GitHub - bw2012/UnrealSandboxTerrain: [WIP] Unreal Engine 4: Smooth voxel terrain plugin - been around for a while, still getting updates
http://runedegroot.com/open-source-voxel-terrain-editor-for-unreal-engine-4/ - just saw this while googling to find one of the above plugins
Wow. This system is perfect
I think texture arrays are already in engine but missing editor tools for them. I’m not 100% sure as I’ve read about it like month or two ago.
i would love to check this! ^^ Point me out where, so even if still not, I really would like to contribute to the engine source if needed be to have it.
Did this ever get to a release?
Hey, any new information, about planned release ?
I am ready to throw money at the screen for this. Been ready to throw money at it for about a year now…
But the lack of updates makes me fear this project is halted…
dunno… did you try throwing more money at the screen? it might work… let me help by doing the same
I just wonder if this is dead or not?
Ali is active in other threads, just not here
Yes, Ali is active in the Dungeon Architect thread.
Hello. You did not abandon this project? Is the release expected in the marketplace soon?
Abandon hope all ye who plan to comment here, asking if this project is dead.
It may or may not be, But Ali (author) has not responded on this thread for a looong time. His last post on his popular plugin DA was a few months ago. Though, it seems he has updated the plugin for 4.20
Search results for '' - Unreal Engine Forums ← to see his last posts
So, we don’t have a way to know if this project is dead - he will hopefully update us at some point - but it seems he is not choosing to comment in this thread.
Main notifications I’ve gotten from this thread are people asking if it is dead - I suspect so, and am going to throw my lot in with Voxel Plugin - Released Projects - Unreal Engine Forums (well-featured free (MIT) version, and a pro version with a bunch of extra features)
Hope Ali is OK, suggest we all stop posting here asking if the project is dead.
@alex Cozabu: I just wanted to not that Ali hasn’t disappeared in general. He had 7 posts in the Dungeon Architect thread on the 15th and 17th of September, and as you mentioned updated it for 4.20.
I do think you are likely right that he has either abandoned or lost interest in Landscape Architect since he hasn’t responded in this thread in ages. Or he may have gotten busy in real life, took a time consuming contract job, etc.
I’m guessing too much competition and not enough time to finish such a large scale project. The planet generation looked promising.
I think Phys plugin supports planet generation - not sure though.
https://voxelplugin.com/ - I recently helped (slightly) getting it running on linux (by being a remote keyboard/compiler…)
I’m going to try and unsub from the thread now. Hope Ali is OK!
