Landscape and mesh tessellation problems

So I’ve been having problems with tessellation and displacement rendering in created material and sculpting brushes. I’m very new at this so any help would be greatly appreciated as to why this is

. Please see attached pics.

Try taking the displacement from the red pin ( take a look at each channel of the texture and find the one that has the most difference ). Also, displacement won’t work with meshes unless they have enough polys.

Ok right i understand about the meshes, but as a brush for a landscape why does it still look flad in this pic?

It could be many things, but right now, I’m looking at your displacement texture and not seeing any variation. Does it have much in the red channel? There should be a lot of contrast there.
